Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Follow the courier, cape gone gray,
He left the heart with oxygen to pay,
Delivered it to muscle, to brain, to skin,
Now he's rolling home with the tank run thin.
Every cell he passed took a sip, then more,
Traded oxygen for carbon at the door,
So the blood that's heading back, pale and low,
Isn't broken, friend—it's just finished its show.

[Chorus]
Two big rivers feeding one red sea,
Vena cava superior, vena cava inferior, that's the key,
Superior's the courier from the arms and the head,
Inferior hauls up news from the legs and the gut instead,
Check yourself—can you name the pair?
Low on oxygen, that's the blood right there,
Two big veins, one heart, one door,
That's how the loop keeps score.

[Verse 2]
Superior vena cava, riding down from the sky,
Catching drainage from your shoulders, your neck, your eye,
Every vein in your arms, your face, your crown,
Pours into this highway, heading on down,
It's the northern route, the upper-body friend,
First one home when the errand's at its end.

[Verse 3]
Inferior vena cava, climbing up from the floor,
Gathering the traffic from the legs and more,
Kidneys, liver, belly's whole terrain,
Every tributary feeding one great lane,
(that's a tributary—a small stream, understand,
that pours into a bigger river before it hits land)
Both rivers empty where the right atrium waits,
Calling out the low-oxygen freight.

[Bridge]
Why so low, why so spent, why so blue?
Because your body used the oxygen—that part's true,
Cells burned it up to keep you moving, keep you warm,
Sent it back through the veins in its tired, quiet form,
Not a failure, just a cycle, a returning tide,
Waiting on the right side to get resupplied.

[Verse 4]
Right atrium fills, then it ships out to the lung,
Pulmonary artery carries the tired blood along,
Through alveoli, trading stale breath for new,
Dull red brightens up, bursting through and through,
Back to the left side, out through the aorta's gate,
Then the courier grabs the tank, refueled, running straight,
Round and round the circuit, no beginning, no end,
Just two rivers and a heart, doing it again.

[Outro]
So when the right side fills up dim and low,
Remember every mile that tired blood didn't glow—
It gave its oxygen away, cell by cell, floor by floor,
Two great veins bring it home through one wide door,
Superior, inferior, upper, lower, joined as one,
Check yourself—now the blood loop's just begun.
