Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Talk about tiny veins, capillaries thin as thread,
Picking up the tired blood, the oxygen long since fled,
They braid into creeks, the creeks turn into streams,
Streams grow into rivers running through your inner seams,
Small to bigger, bigger still, the current never stalls,
Every drop remembers it's got somewhere it recalls.

[Chorus]
Superior vena cava falling from the crown,
Head and neck and arms all tumbling on down,
Inferior vena cava rising from the floor,
Belly, legs, and organs knocking at the door,
Coronary sinus sneaks in through the side,
The heart's own muscle blood comes home to ride,
Three rivers meet the right atrium, the waiting room so wide,
Tricuspid valve swings open, don't you turn and hide.

[Verse 2]
Picture the superior cava like a waterfall up high,
Catching every vein that drains down from your eye,
Your shoulders and your fingertips, your collarbone, your chin,
Gravity's own courier delivering them in,
It's the northern gate of the heart, the entrance from above,
Above the heart is all its job is built and shaped of.

[Verse 3]
Now flip it upside down and travel to the south,
Inferior vena cava's got the wider mouth,
It hauls the blood from liver, kidneys, stomach, thighs,
Legs that walked all day now floating up to rise,
Below the heart, that's the territory it collects,
The southern gate, the ground-floor door, the basement's own respect.

[Bridge]
Two giants and a whisper, that's the trio at the gate,
Superior, inferior, and the small one's just as great,
Coronary sinus, quiet hero, never gets the fame,
But the muscle that keeps pumping needs its cleanup just the same.

[Verse 4]
All three pour their cargo where the right atrium waits,
A cozy little chamber, first stop, not the gates,
It fills up like a balloon, then squeezes nice and slow,
Pressing on the tricuspid, telling it to go,
Three flaps swing like shutters, one direction, never back,
Down into the right ventricle, following the track.

[Chorus]
Superior vena cava falling from the crown,
Head and neck and arms all tumbling on down,
Inferior vena cava rising from the floor,
Belly, legs, and organs knocking at the door,
Coronary sinus sneaks in through the side,
The heart's own muscle blood comes home to ride,
Three rivers meet the right atrium, the waiting room so wide,
Tricuspid valve swings open, don't you turn and hide.

[Outro]
Streams to rivers, rivers to the door,
Waiting room fills up and squeezes to the floor,
One-way valve, the tricuspid's the key,
Off to the right ventricle, that's the blood loop's decree.
