Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The aortic valve swings like a chapel door,
ascending aorta climbs, a marble stair,
then the arch bends westward, curving sure,
descending now, down through the quiet air.
Every artery a corridor of red,
carrying oxygen where the tissue's fed.

[Chorus]
carotid to the mind, subclavian to the arm,
renal to the kidney, keeping bodies warm.
Der Kreislauf, das Blut, es kreist,
durch Adern und Arterien, unser stiller Geist.

[Verse 2]
But first the heart must feed its own dark walls —
coronary arteries wrap it like a vine,
tiny rivers hidden where the muscle calls,
before the blood continues down the line.
Up through the neck the carotid climbs to think,
subclavian slips beneath the collarbone's brink.

[Chorus]
carotid to the mind, subclavian to the arm,
renal to the kidney, keeping bodies warm.
Der Kreislauf, das Blut, es kreist,
durch Adern und Arterien, unser stiller Geist.

[Verse 3]
Renal arteries dip toward the kidney's shore,
iliac splits the trunk to wander down each leg,
arterioles narrow — thinner than before,
capillaries thread where oxygen must beg
its way through walls as thin as breath on glass,
this is where the traded gases pass.

[Verse 4]
Aber schau, before the body's road is free,
the pulmonary artery carries blue, not red,
right ventricle sends it out to sea,
into the lungs where the dying blood is fed
with breath and light, alveoli's gentle kiss,
oxygen dissolving into crimson bliss.
Pulmonary veins return it, bright and new,
left atrium waits to pass it through —
so the circuit splits in two, systemic and small,
lungs and body, answering the heart's call,
zwei Kreise, die sich ewig wiederholen,
tides of blood that no one can control.

[Bridge]
Venules gather what the tissue leaves behind,
kleine Bäche, sammeln sich zu einem Strom,
the portal vein carries harvest from the gut, refined,
straight to the liver, bringing nutrients home.
Then venae cavae, superior and below,
pour the tired blood back where it needs to go —
zurück zum Herzen, ruhig, ohne Eile,
the loop begins again, mile after mile.

[Chorus]
carotid to the mind, subclavian to the arm,
renal to the kidney, keeping bodies warm.
Der Kreislauf, das Blut, es kreist,
durch Adern und Arterien, unser stiller Geist.

[Chorus]
carotid to the mind, subclavian to the arm,
renal to the kidney, keeping bodies warm.
Der Kreislauf, das Blut, es kreist,
durch Adern und Arterien, unser stiller Geist.

[Outro]
Aortic valve, ascending, arch, descending, done —
