Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Bag feels light on the passenger seat
I'm cruisin' past the mini-mart, radio on repeat
Got the burger, got the drink sweatin' in the holder
Reach in for a fry, find a napkin and a folder
No, not a folder, just a flap, just grease
Five miles out and my stomach callin' a ceasefire, peace
The window kid said "anything else?" and I said nope
Now I'm doin' math on gas and hope
Odometer spinnin' like it's laughin' at me
Forgot my fries, this ain't a small tragedy
It's the principle, the crunch, the salt, the steam
Five miles is far when you're starvin' for a dream

[Chorus]
It's such a little thing but it sits so heavy
Five miles of road between me and my gravy
It's such a little thing, don't mean I'm not upset
Turn the car around, I'm not done yet

[Verse 2]
Okay, breathe, pull over by the laundromat
Don't gotta rage, don't gotta tear up the welcome mat
Just hold the receipt up, let the phone take a look
It reads every line like a little paper book
Finds the total, finds the time, finds the store
Pulls the map up quick, draws a line back to the door
No retyping the address, no guessing the turn
It just points you home while your dinner stays warm-ish, in turn
Small move, big save — that's the whole entire trick
Snap it, trust it, let the route do the thinking quick
Five miles back feels shorter when you're not lost in your head
Just a photo and a path, and a fry basket ahead

[Bridge]
Still gonna be a little cold when it lands in your hand
Still gonna mutter under your breath, still not grand
Some things don't get fixed, they just get easier to face
A good set of directions don't erase the wasted space
But at least you're not circlin', at least you know the way
That's enough for a Tuesday, that's enough for today

[Verse 3]
Pull back in, the kid remembers my face
Slide the bag across, no shame, no disgrace
Count the fries like a dragon countin' gold
Still warm enough, still a story to be told
Could've just ate the burger, called it a loss
Could've let it go, chalked it up to the cost
But baby steps home are still steps in the right place
Five miles back ain't nothin' but a little grace
Now I'm merging back onto the same old street
Salt on my fingers, bass kickin' the beat
Funny how the smallest things can teach you to be patient
Fry by fry, mile by mile, that's just information

[Chorus]
It's such a little thing but it sits so heavy
Five miles of road between me and my gravy
It's such a little thing, don't mean I'm not upset
Turn the car around, I'm not done yet

[Chorus]
It's such a little thing but it sits so heavy
Five miles of road between me and my gravy
It's such a little thing, don't mean I'm not upset
Turn the car around, I'm not done yet
