The free public event brought together approximately 1000 visitors for a day of activities exploring climate action and environmental protection[1]
According to the EEAS, the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea, through the EU-Korea Green Partnership Programme (GPP), held the second EU Green Day Festival on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at Moonlight Plaza in Banpo Hangang Park.[1]The EEAS says the festival was held as part of EU Green Diplomacy Week 2026, ahead of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP31[1]. It adds that the event featured 17 booths hosted by EU Member State embassies, Korean public institutions, civil society organisations and university teams.[1]The EEAS reports that visitors tested their knowledge with climate quizzes at the various EU Member State booths and sampled sustainable products.[1] According to the delegation, the stage programme featured a true-or-false quiz, traditional Korean games and short talks by booth participants.[1] District Mayor Seo Jun-o told the paper that "carbon neutrality can only produce results when residents' everyday practices and the policies that support them go hand in hand."[2]The EEAS says the festival built on its inaugural edition in 2025[1]. Korea JoongAng Daily reported that at the 2025 edition, EU Ambassador Ugo Astuto said: "We — as the EU — are pioneers of the global effort with the Green Deal"[3].The EEAS describes the GPP as an EU-funded initiative designed to strengthen climate and environmental cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Korea.[1]
