According to Al Jazeera, Iran-backed Houthi forces have claimed a total of six attacks on airports and oil facilities across Saudi Arabia despite a rare meeting of Saudi and Iranian senior officials in Tehran earlier this week[1]
Middle East Eye reports that the Houthis carried out six attacks on Saudi Arabia, targeting airports, oil facilities and a military headquarters, spokesperson Yahya Saree said.[2]Al Jazeera reports that Saree's statement on X said the Houthis targeted the Ras Tanura oil refinery with a ballistic missile, an Aramco facility in Abqaiq with a missile, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with multiple missiles[1]. According to Demócrata, Saree also named the King Fahd International Airport, in Dammam; the Rabigh oil refinery and a military base located in Najran.[3]Demócrata reports that Saree claimed the Najran strike caused dead and injured in the Saudi ranks[3], but Saudi authorities have acknowledged only one minor injury in Riyadh.According to Al Jazeera, Saudi Arabia's Civil Defence said shrapnel from the interception wounded one Saudi citizen in Riyadh.[1] Al Jazeera adds that shrapnel also damaged a house and a vehicle, the agency's spokesperson told the state-run news agency.[1]Al Jazeera also reports that Yemen's internationally recognised government called on the UN Security Council to take "deterrent and punitive measures" to stop Houthi attacks on Aden International Airport.[1]According to Al Jazeera, after Monday's Tehran meeting, the Saudi foreign ministry stressed "the importance of opening channels of negotiation to prevent a return to military escalation"[1].
