The edition itself identifies as "Canada Gazette Part II, Vol. 160, No. 20"[2], not volume 159. The Canada Gazette site says Part II "contains all enacted regulations and statutory instruments."[3]According to the issue, order P.C. 2026-851 of September 22, 2026[2] amends the Iran sanctions regulations (SOR/2026-195). The order says the Governor in Council considers Iran's actions "a grave breach of international peace and security."[2]Global Affairs Canada says the September 22 amendment listed five individuals and five entities[4]. Its backgrounder says the list includes the media regulator SATRA, the censorship authority WGDICC, the Seraj Cyberspace Organization and Eskandar Momeni, senior commander of the IRGC and Minister of the Interior[5].Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand said Canada "is using every tool at its disposal, including targeted sanctions"[1] against Iran. Her department says that since October 2022, Canada has imposed 24 rounds of sanctions against 237 Iranian individuals and 265 Iranian entities[1].Global Affairs Canada says these listings "effectively"[6] freeze sanctioned persons' assets in Canada. It adds that listed individuals are also rendered inadmissible to Canada[6].The same issue also includes order P.C. 2026-854, dated September 25, 2026[2], made under the Nuclear Liability and Compensation Act.
